Metabolic syndrome is a combination of medical disorders that, when occur together, increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It is known that genetic polymorphisms can increase susceptibility to developing one or more of the components of metabolic syndrome. The goal of this work was to determine the patterns of XbaI and PvuII single nucleotide polymormisms of estrogen receptor alpha (ESR-1) gene and their association with metabolic syndrome in females. Additionally, this study aimed to investigate the possible relationship of relaxin-3 to metabolic syndrome in females.
